Team Handicap is the total handicap divided by 3, multiplied by 0.75.

FORMAT

SOUTH PACIFIC LEG

System.

Team Ambrose or 3-player team best ball with a variation on the tee shot.

The Designated Driver (DD)

Each hole will have only one (1) designated driver (DD), chosen by each team before playing their tee shot. Following each DD’s tee shot, the whole team, including the DD, will switch to a best-ball format from fairway to green until holing out. For the best-ball format, the original ball cannot be lifted. A marker must be placed near the original ball, and the other two balls can be placed within two (2) scorecards length of the marker. There is a 2-stroke penalty if the original ball is lifted and placed.

Additionally, each player will be assigned only six (6) drives throughout the game. For Par 3 holes, all players can take a shot for the hole-in-one prizes. However, the first player to tee off on each team will automatically be considered the DD, regardless of whether they announced it or not. Incorrectly declaring the DD on the scorecard will result in a 2-stroke penalty.

Hitting the Tee Shot Out of Bounds

In case a tee shot goes out of bounds, the same player must take stroke-and-distance relief by adding one penalty stroke and playing the original ball or another ball from where the previous stroke was made (in accordance with Rule 18.2b of the R&A Rules of Golf).

Hitting the Tee Shot Into A Penalty Area.

If the designated driver (DD) hits their tee shot into a penalty area, the entire team has two options: they can either play the ball as it lies in the penalty area if possible, or they can take a drop with a one-stroke penalty. Regardless of the option they choose, all players on the team can then proceed to a best ball format.

Scoring Format.

To speed up play, Molave scoring is applied. The team must pick up the ball if they are playing for triple bogey or beyond double bogey. The marker must write an “X” on the team’s scorecard. Failure to indicate an “X” on the scorecard will result in a two-stroke team penalty.

Tie Breaker.

In the event of a tie in this Team Ambrose format, the following tiebreaker rules shall be applied:

  1. The team with the best score on the back 9 (Holes 10 to 18) shall be declared the winner.
  2. If the tie persists, the team with the best score on the final hole (Hole 18) will be favored. If still tied, scores on Hole 17 will be compared, then Hole 16, and so forth until a winner emerges.

Players must inform their flight-mates before using a mulligan. Mulligans do not count as a hole-in-one.
